We were nervous about getting the Velvet Flannel sheets as my husband and I are both hot sleepers and have had some not so good experiences with synthetic winter sheets. After the usual fab customer service from Christina we decided to give them a go and we both love them. Nice and warm and cosy, no static and you never seem to get too hot. My only complaint is it's now hard to get out of bed on these cold mornings!

Cheap flannelette sheds
Most flannelette sold in NZ is made cheaply which is why it sheds aggressively the first few washes, balls up, and goes super thin within a season.

Synthetics make you sweat
Polyester flannelette, "winter microfibre" or polar fleece sheets feel cosy in the shop but trap moisture and make you sweet. You wake up clammy at 2am.

Bamboo leaves you clammy
Bamboo is rayon, a human-made fibre. It wicks moisture away but holds on to 50% more moisture (sweat) than cotton. That's why it takes so long to dry on the line!

These sheets are perfect for the South Island winter. Prior to buying them I was contemplating buying an electric blanket but that is no longer necessary. They fit my modern mattress well and I would highly recommend them. It can be hard getting out of bed on the coldest of mornings as these sheets always provide perfect warmth.
