The Classic Hotel Duvet Cover

The bedding shown below is 'cool and crisp' to sleep in. The Classic Hotel Sheet is a 100% cotton, commercial sheet used in hotels throughout Portugal and Europe (100% cotton hotel sheets are rare in NZ hotels). The Egyptian Hotel Sheet uses the same cool and crisp recipe but is made from 100% DNA tested, long-staple Egyptian cotton - widely regarded as the best in the world (when buying Egyptian cotton, make sure it has a DNA test these days). The Classic Hotel Duvet Cover uses the same cool and crisp cloth as The Classic Hotel Sheet but in duvet cover form. While most hotels don't use duvet covers, they have a maid to fully make the bed each day!
What makes this bedding cool and crisp compared to retail bedding is the thread count and the weave. Retailers favour high thread counts which uses the sateen weave. And while softer/silkier (unless made from bad cotton) it traps body head and is vey hot to sleep in. Low thread count sheets use the percale weave which is cooler and feels crisp. Linen also uses low thread count percale which is why people say linen is cooler. Linen isn't actually cooler than cotton, it's just woven like a hotel sheet which uses a cooler recipe compared to most retail sheets. No matter what it's made from, the higher the thread count, the hotter the sheet!
However, cool and crisp sheets wrinkle more, especially in the first few weeks which is why we also offer a 60 night trial on all our bedding. It allows you to get past the initial wear-in period and properly judge the sheet. Note: these aren't 'hotel style' sheets, they're commercial cotton sheets used in real hotels so are super crisp (and wrinkly) to begin with. This is why we encourage everyone to try them for the full 60 nights before judging.
And don't believe retailers who say a high thread count means better quality. Yes, the low thread count sheets generally found in retail stores are often terrible but they don't have to be. Thread count doesn't have much to do with quality at the price point most people pay for their sheets (under $1000 NZD per set). The quality of the cotton, yarn and weaving is what actually determines quality. The commercial world views thread count in terms of thread quality, not thread count. You should too.
High thread count retail sheets: Soft, silky, thick, hot, wrinkle less, and all things being equal, don't wear as well.
Low thread count hotel sheets: Cool, crisp, fine, strong, wrinkle more, and all things being equal, wear better.
