Cooling - Tested By Hot Sleepers

  • After testing almost every type of sheet, one thing is clear; retailers don't sleep-test their sheets or if they do, they're not hot sleepers.
  • If you sleep with a foot hanging out, are a “young lady of a certain age” (LOL), or just run hot (most men do), this basket-weave percale sheet stays cooler and is perfect for hot sleepers.
  • Tested against: Tencel®, lyocel, bamboo, Naia™, Mynt, poly/cotton, bamboo/cotton, linen, and most styles of cotton from 150TC to 1000TC in a temperature controlled bedroom. Bamboo is just rayon BTW.
  • Nothing is a miracle cure but our sheets consistently trapped the least heat of any sheets tested.
  • To get the most from them, use with our Sleep Layers™ guide, emailed free with every purchase.

What Should I Expect?

Fresh n' crisp and light n' airy. Durable for weight (light = cool).

What not to expect?

Size Guide

  • Modern mattresses vary in height, and bed (and pillow) sizes vary hugely around the world.
  • If you constantly have trouble finding the right size, measure your mattress and note it in your phone (along with unusual pillowcase sizes). Measurements are only needed occasionally. But these days, knowing your measurements is vital for getting the right fit.
  • We cut to standard New Zealand sizes and use pre-shrunk yarn, with just 4% typical shrinkage over the life of the bedding.

I have given away all my other bed linen even some new items never used. The only bed linen I will ever use now are the Classic Hotel Sheets and pillowcases. Best night’s sleep ever luxuriating in these.

  • Nothing's cooler (almost)

After sleep testing cotton, linen, bamboo (rayon), high thread count, low thread count and everything in between, the only bedding that breathed better, was our top of the line Egyptian cotton.

  • They'll fit, and won't shrink

Cut to New Zealand sizes with deepbase and standard depths for fitted sheets. And they'll always fit with European quality that's pre-shrunk - just 4% shrinkage over the life of the bedding.

  • That classic, crisp hotel feel

Ever wondered why hotel sheets have that beautifully crisp feel? 10% is the laundry but the rest is the low thread count recipe hotels use. It delivers quality over quantity, and that beautifully crisp feel.

  • Size labels

Our bedding comes with an extra size label so you can identify sizes. Tip: Rotate your fitted for more life. Our fitted labels are bottom right, next time you make the bed, rotate it top left for more wear.

Excellent Product & Service. I was so impressed with my new sheets I purchased 3 more sets and the best thing is I'll never have to fight with a fitted sheet ever again!

I don't want to sleep in anything else now! They are crisp but not scratchy. Easy purchase - very responsive and delivered quickly. I try to dry on washing line - I do like to iron the tops of the top sheet, but that's personal preference. I also love that they fit well but with enough room so that you're not breaking your wrist trying to get the fitted sheet over the mattress :)

  • Avoid bamboo (it's rayon)

Bamboo bedding isn't natural, it's rayon. But for hot sleepers, it's much hotter, even when blended. Natural fibres win every time so settle for nothing less. Your sleep deserves better.

  • Avoid higher thread counts

High thread count is thicker and hotter. Thread count also has nothing to do with quality at the price most pay. But after sleep testing, high thread counts were as hot as poly/cotton. Avoid.

  • Avoid sateen

Sateen isn't a finish, it's a closed weave that traps heat. It's generally used for higher thread counts, making their thickness even hotter. Yes, they're silky but they trap heat.

  • Linen is good, but still hotter

Linen is natural with an open weave. The trouble is thickness, which is hotter. We only use linen in winter now. If linen works for you, it's a good choice but it isn't the coolest.

I have to say when I first tried them I wasn't so sure as they felt so different from the bamboo sheets, but after a few washes, we are blown away with them and now my husband doesn't want to use anything else! They are cool, smooth, crisp, we are obsessed with them! Will definitely be buying more!

All natural fibres (not just ours) need at least three days’ rest after washing. Putting sheets straight back on the bed weakens and shortens their life. This is why most people go one week on, one week off. To get the most life from any natural sheet, not just ours (including linen), add new sheets to your existing rotation.

Sheets are cool and crisp to sleep in - rather luxurious. They wash well too. Very pleased with them.

Direct to consumers

Direct from the hospitality arm of one of Europe’s largest bed-and-bath textile mills, The Classic Hotel Sheet cloth is fresh 'n' crisp, and light 'n' airy. It uses an open weave (percale) in the more airy thread count used by the majority of hotels: 250TC. We've been selling direct to consumers since 2010, so you won't find us in shops. Beware of imitations.

Can't recommend them highly enough. Go on, treat yourself, it's worth it.
