Have you noticed what happens to everything when you can't sleep?
You know the feeling. It's 2am and you're wide awake, drenched, kicking the duvet off for the third time tonight. But the heat isn't even the worst part. It's what comes next.
The fatigue that follows you all day. The brain fog that makes simple decisions feel impossible. The irritability that spills into your relationships — snapping at your partner, short with the kids, barely holding it together at work.
Sleep deprivation slows reaction times, reduces focus, memory, and decision-making ability. The impairment is similar to alcohol. It makes regulating emotions harder, leading to mood swings, and over the long-term, anxiety and depression.
Regular broken sleep alters hunger and satiety hormones, leading to overeating, sugar cravings, and weight gain. It disrupts blood sugar regulation, lowers daily energy, and is strongly linked to elevated blood pressure and heart disease.
And here's the thing nobody tells you: your sheets might be making it worse. human-made fibres like bamboo, closed weaves, thick fabrics - they all trap heat. You don't notice in the shop. You notice at 2am.
If you've tried "cooling" sheets that didn't work, expensive high thread count sheets that made things worse, or bamboo sheets that felt clammy — it's not your fault. It's the sheets.

If your a hot sleeper. These sheets are the BEST Ive ever purchased compared to all other sheets i purchased over many years from that big store starting with (B) and ending in (S).

Have you tried everything and nothing works?
I've been where you are. I tried bamboo sheets because the shop assistant said they were "cooling" — they left me clammy. I bought expensive high thread count sheets because surely more threads means better quality — they were worse. I tried linen because everyone says it's the coolest — warmer than expected.
I spent years confused, frustrated, and exhausted, buying sheets that marketing promised would help, only to wake up hotter than before.
What I eventually learned changed everything: it's not about finding sheets that cool you. It's about finding sheets that stop making you hotter. Most sheets, even the ones marketed as "cooling", are made with fibres, weaves and thicknesses that trap heat. Once I understood that, I stopped chasing miracle cures and started looking for what actually works.
15 years of sleep-testing later, the sheet we sell is still the coolest we've ever found. It consistently beats bamboo, linen, sateen, and high thread count sheets in our testing. It's 100% cotton, percale weave (the open, breathable one), lower thread count, and woven in Europe from strong commercial cotton. Open, light, fresh and crisp.

Having previously tried all manner of bedding from brands promising the world and woefully under-delivering on those promises, I've been so, SO impressed with our purchase from The Hotel Sheet.

I had been looking for the perfect cotton sheet for years. Had tried all the usual brands, Egyptian cotton & various thread counts. When I saw the Hotel Sheet ad on tv I decided to give them a try. I was not disappointed.

Making these common heat mistakes?
Here's what 15 years of sleep-testing taught me. Every mistake below leads back to the same problem: trapped heat and broken sleep.
Mistake 1: Thinking blends are fine
Christina says: Avoid synthetics like polyester and other human-made fibres like bamboo, eucalyptus, Lyocell and Tencel®. Even when blended with natural fibres, they trap heat and repel sweat, leaving you hot and clammy. This goes for everything on the bed: sheets, duvet covers, mattress toppers, and anything you wear to bed. Always check the label.

I was disappointed when I purchased bamboo cotton sheets which were too hot... Now these Hotel Sheets are perfect... If I'm hot it's because the climate is hot not because of the sheets.

Mistake 2: Thinking bamboo is natural
Christina says: Bamboo the plant is natural but bamboo the fibre isn't, it's good old rayon. Everything old is new again! The US Federal Trade Commission has been suing retailers for advertising bamboo as "natural" since 2013. Despite "cooling" claims, when we sleep-tested it, bamboo trapped heat and left us sweaty. If you don't find bamboo hot, you probably don't sleep as hot as us. But for those of us who really struggle, 100% natural fibres win every time.

I was previously a bamboo sheet convert but... after a few washes, we are so glad we made the switch.

Mistake 3: Chasing high thread counts
Christina says: Higher thread count sheets are thicker, and thickness traps heat. Most high thread count sheets also use sateen (a closed weave), so you're getting a double heat-punch. Unless you're paying $1,500+, thread count has nothing to do with quality anyway. In our sleep-testing, high thread count sheets performed on-par with poly/cotton for heat. For hot sleepers, you want see-through sheets that release heat. The trick is finding good ones that are also strong.

Having spent years sleeping on 1000 thread count sheets... We were definitely skeptical, we've been conditioned to think that thread count = quality... Getting these sheets on the bed, the first night we were immediate converts.

Mistake 4: Assuming sateen is just "softer"
Christina says: Sateen is actually a closed weave. It looks gorgeous in photos and feels silky in the shop. But it traps heat — in our testing, it was as hot as poly/cotton. If you struggle with heat at night, sateen is one of the worst choices you can make. Silky or cool - pick one.

Crisp, cool and worth the money.

Mistake 5: Believing linen is the coolest option
Chistina says: We tested linen for years because conventional wisdom says it's the coolest. It isn't - not compared to our sheets. Linen sheets are thicker, which traps more heat. It also never has that fresh, crisp feel. We only use linen sheets in winter now. If linen sheets work for you, great. But for us, it was second best at temperature regulation.

I've been trying linen sheets as well and they are lovely but for overall sleep comfort, these sheets win.

Mistake 6: Using thick/heavy sheets
Christina says: We all judge quality by thickness, but for hot sleepers, thicker fabrics trap more heat. You want sheets you can nearly see through. That's what releases heat. That's specifically why we make our sheets from strong cotton, yarn and weaving - thin but tough for their weight.

We used to toss and turn, waking up hot and uncomfortable for years! Since sleeping on the Hotel Sheets we have an undisturbed, restful sleep every night.

So what actually works?
Christina says: After all that testing, here's the recipe: 100% cotton. Percale weave (open and light). Lower thread count (250TC). Made with quality cotton, yarn and weaving. We call it The Classic, and it consistently beats every other sheet we've sleep-tested - including bamboo, linen, sateen, and high thread counts. It's open, light, cool and crisp - and it's what we sleep on every night.
For those who want the very best cotton available, The Egyptian Sheet uses the same cool and crisp recipe but with 100% DNA-tested, long-staple Egyptian cotton.
